A 36-year-old man, Alick Muonjeza, lost his life in a fatal motorcycle accident on January 29th, 2023, on the Liwonde – Zomba road in Machinga district.
According to Machinga police public relations officer, Western Kansire, the accident took place at around 17:00 hours at Milala Trading Centre.
Mr. Muonjeza was riding his motorcycle from the direction of Malosa towards Machinga when he made a right turn without checking, colliding with a minibus, a Vanette, with three passengers on board.
The impact was severe and resulted in Mr. Muonjeza sustaining head injuries. Despite being rushed to St Luke’s Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police report highlights that the deceased was not wearing a crash helmet, which is a crucial safety measure for riders.
Mr. Muonjeza was from Chimwai village in Traditional Authority Nkula in Machinga
