Members of parliament in Blantyre have taken action to protest the distribution of fertilizer from the Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund (SFRFF) warehouses.
The MPs are conducting a vigil at the depot and have blocked any vehicle from leaving until their demands for the dispatch of UREA Fertilizer under the Agricultural Inputs Program (AIP) to their areas are met.
Parliamentarian Victor Musowa was quoted as saying, “We make laws for this country. We did not come here to play.”
The MPs were reportedly reacting to the sighting of trucks loaded with goods suspected to be bags of fertilizer that were about to leave the depot.
