Tragedy has struck in Ntchisi district as a 25-year-old man has taken his own life over marital issues.
Peter Maxwell is believed to have ended his life after a heated argument with his wife, according to authorities.
Sergeant Yohane Tasowana, the Public Relations Officer for Ntchisi Police Station, confirmed that Maxwell committed suicide using a mosquito net rope in front of his 3-year-old child.
The child alerted the mother, but unfortunately, it was too late to save Maxwell’s life.
According to police reports, the argument was sparked by Maxwell coming home drunk and his wife threatening to divorce him. This statement apparently did not sit well with Maxwell, leading to the fatal outcome.
The police are investigating the matter and offering their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking help when facing difficulties in relationships and the need to address mental health issues.
