Information reaching this publication indicates that Kalekeni Kaphale, one of the private lawyers hired by the Attorney General of Malawi to challenge the Malawi Law Society’s injunction, is yet to make a decision on his appointment.

Despite his fellow hired lawyers Chancy Gondwe and George Kadzipatike having already filed their notices of appointment at the court, Kaphale has not yet done so.

Kaphale, who is also the former Attorney General of the country, revealed that there are some issues surrounding his intended appointment that need to be discussed and agreed upon with the Attorney General.

He stated that these issues are confidential and cannot be disclosed to the public.

The Malawi Law Society’s injunction has been a matter of concern for the government and has caused a stir in the legal fraternity.

The government’s decision to hire private lawyers to challenge the injunction has sparked discussions about the independence of the Attorney General’s office.
