A press briefing was held on Thursday by a grouping of Concerned citizens, led by Bon Kalindo, to address the current state of the nation.

The group, comprised of citizens from all walks of life, expressed their disappointment with the current administration led by President Lazarus Chakwera, Secretary to the President and Cabinet Collen Zamba, and Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda.

According to Kalindo, the country is currently facing a leadership crisis as evidenced by the series of challenges that have plagued the nation in recent times.

He stated that President Chakwera has failed to lead the country to the “glorious land of Canaan” that was once promised.

As a result, the Concerned citizens have decided to take a stand and demand the resignation of the President and his cabinet members.

Kalindo announced that the ‘Malawi Shutdown’ demonstrations will take place on 20th March 2023 and will be held in all regions and surrounding districts.

The demonstrations aim to bring attention to the leadership crisis and demand change from the current administration.

Furthermore, Kalindo challenged the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director, Martha Chizuma, to ensure that the Bureau cracks down on all corruption cases, regardless of who is involved.

He stated that corruption has been a major problem in the country and has hindered its development.
