A Livingstone Local Court in Zambia has ordered SIOMA District Commissioner Edmond Mumbula to pay K25,000 in compensation for committing adultery with a married woman.
The ruling came after Patrick Mwiimbi, who works for the National Prosecution Authority, sued Mumbula for having an affair with his wife, Harriet Mayambu.
The case against Mumbula was based on evidence presented by Mwiimbi, who was sent a video showing Mumbula having sexual relations with Mayambu.
Mwiimbi’s children had discovered the video on their mother’s phone and forwarded it to their father.
In addition to the video, Mwiimbi also presented an audio recording in which Mumbula admitted to having a sexual relationship with Mayambu and promised to compensate Mwiimbi for his actions.
The evidence presented in court was enough for the judge to rule in favor of Mwiimbi and order Mumbula to pay K25,000 in compensation.
