A burial in Bindura turned violent when family members engaged in a physical fight over the opening of the coffin. The incident occurred when one of the deceased man’s sons, identified as Diva, opened the casket at the burial site, enraging some of his relatives.

The deceased man’s son opened the coffin amid chants of his nickname, “Ngolo,” but failed to remove the cloth covering his late father’s face. Some male relatives tried to stop him, but others supported his decision, resulting in a violent altercation that lasted only a few minutes.

In a viral video, mourners can be heard shouting, “Siyai aone baba vake. Ona baba vako shamwari, musiyei aone baba vake. Pfeka mask,” which translates to “Let him see his father. See your father, friend, leave him to see his father. Wear a mask.” Diva responded, “ndibaba vangu,” meaning “he’s my father,” but was stopped by a relative.

After the confrontation, a relative sealed the coffin, but sources reported that Diva and his brother urinated inside the grave after the casket was lowered.
