Rumphi East member of Parliament, Kamlepo Kalua, has called on the Malawian government to consider the release of former Minister of Homeland Security, Uladi Mussa.

Mussa is currently serving a five-year jail term at Maula Prison. He was sentenced in 2020 over fraudulent issuance of citizenship and work permits to foreigners.

During a session in Parliament, Kalua highlighted the need to consider releasing Mussa, citing him as a notable national leader who has contributed significantly to the country’s development.

The MP appealed to Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, to ask President Lazarus Chakwera to consider releasing Mussa.

Meanwhile, Speaker of National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara has called on Kalua to make formal request to the Minister of Homeland Security so that he can respond on the matter.
