Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mulanje South East Naomi Kilekwa has been suspended for two weeks in Parliament for allegedly defying marching orders last week.

Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara last week Friday invoked standing order 105 on Kilekwa for allegedly disrupting President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) with her noise.

But Kilekwa refused to leave the house, prompting the Speaker to warn her of stiffer punishment come Monday (yesterday).

Apart from the fortnight long suspension the speaker has also imposed an order for forfeiture of allowances.

The Speaker has also suspended three other DPP parliamentarians for defending Kilekwa not to leave the house.

The Speaker has also issued a stain warning to Mulanje Bale MP Victor Musowa.
