In a shocking incident, a Malawi Defence Force Officer from the Engineers Battalion has been arrested for allegedly killing his own 4-year-old biological daughter in Kasungu.

According to reports from the Kasungu Police, the accused, Medium Nyirongo, had separated from his wife and had sent his two children to the village. However, they were sent back to him, which seems to have triggered a horrific chain of events.

It is alleged that on the same night, Nyirongo took the children to a nearby bush, where he killed his daughter before leaving his other child unconscious.

The police were alerted when a woman identified as Rosemary Jasi, who was on her way to her garden, found the boy unconscious on January 27, 2023.

The police launched an investigation, and on February 11, 2023, they found the body of the deceased child. Nyirongo was subsequently arrested and is now facing charges of murder.

Meanwhile, MDF Spokesperson Major Kelvin Mlelemba has assured Malawians that if Nyirongo is found with a case to answer, he will be charged accordingly.
