Chairperson for parliamentary committee on Agriculture, Sameer Suleman has asked the office of speaker of parliament to empower the inquiry of parliament on agriculture to investigate the 3 billion kwacha rotten maize saga.
The 10 000 metric tonnes of maize which was used as collateral at NBS Bank turned out discolored not good for human consumption
Suleman has made fresh claims that the actual maize that has been lost is 38 ,000 not 10,000 metric tonnes as stated by minister of agriculture Sam Kawale.
Suleman said the committee will wait on the response from the speaker on this important issue.
However, minister of agriculture Sam kawale, has said that the alleged maize was not rotten but not fit for Human consumption due to fumigation processes at the reserve.
Kawale added that the 10,000 metric tones maize is still at coratel management at NBS bank.
Meanwhile government has dismissed the allegations of saying no maize has rotten from the storage facilities as being speculated by other member of parliament.
