Liwonde Police in Machinga is keeping in custody Kondwani Moses for suspecting him in connection with a syndicate of theft of motor vehicle parts in the township.
Spokesperson for Liwonde police Ngwashape Msume, said the suspect has been allegedly targeting items like rearview mirrors, car batteries, computer boxes, covers, jacks, coil parks, cash, flash discs, engine oil, wheel spanners and other spare parts.
Police arrested Moses following numerous complaints received from residents from November 2022 to February 2023.
Msume also added that the suspect is an ex-convict who also served a custodial sentence for similar offences in 2021 and was released on April 27, 2022.
Meanwhile, Liwonde Police have recovered 11 coils, 4 rearview mirrors and 1 computer box and Moses will appear in court soon to answer theft charges when investigations are over..
Kondwani Moses is 33 years-old man hails from Mtetemera village, Traditional Authority Sawali in Balaka district.
