State House Director of Communications Sean Kampondeni has said President Lazarus Chakwera did not endorse the ‘aborted’ interdiction of ACB Director General Martha Chizuma.
On January 31, Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba had issued an interdiction letter to Chizuma, who was then answering criminal libel charges in court before she was re-instated after the charges were dropped.
According to Kampondeni, Chizuma’s cancelled indictment came from Zamba in her capacity as Head of Civil Service.
Kampondeni said Zamba only applied the Civil Service regulations on what happens to civil servants answering criminal charges and that that does not require the endorsement of the President.
