Henry Mussa, the former Minister of Information in Malawi, has been sentenced to three years in prison for conspiracy to steal and six years for receiving stolen property.

The sentencing was delivered by the court following Mussa’s conviction in October of last year together with former Director of Information Gideon Munthali, who has been handed the same sentence.

The charges stem from the theft of 10 computers and a genset from the Ministry of Information.

The sentences will run concurrently, meaning that Mussa will serve a total of six years in prison.
