Information reaching this publication indicates that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has appointed former Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steven Kayuni as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Homeland Security.
Kayuni’s appointment comes barely weeks after his firing as DPP.
President Chakwera fired Kayuni for having hand in the arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.
Chizuma’s arrest caused controversy in the country as donors threatened economic sanction, forcing President Chakwera to order her release with conditions.
He later instituted a commission of inquiry which revealed that Kayuni was the main man behind Chizuma’s arrest hence his firing.
