Human Rights campaigners have rejected the concept of shoot to kill as one way of controlling criminal activities in the country.

According to Executive Director for the Center for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) Michael Kaiyatsa, the country is based on the democratic and human rights values that it cannot be talking about the shoot to kill concept as a way to curb crime.

Kaiyatsa also added that is reacting to concerns over security gap in the country that has prompted some quarters to suggest the introduction of the concept to tighten security.

In his part, National Police Spokesperson Peter Kalaya, said that law enforcers will do their best within the arms of the law in as far as providing security to Malawians is concerned in making sure that they are tightening national security.
