Some filling stations in the some parts of southern region have been contaminated following heavy rains that have come in some parts of country.

However the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has suspended pump services at filling stations where incidents of contamination of water and petroleum products have been reported

Public relations manager for MERA, Fittina Khonje, has confirmed the development and the board has advised all filling stations affected to suspend their services.

Khonje has also added that, the energy regulator will make sure that fuel is available in all the parts of southern region although some road networks have been damaged due to the heavy rains.
