One of the three Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers who were swept away by floods in Mulanje has been found.

The soldiers went missing after a boat they were using to rescue about 100 people was swept by flooding water.

Dodma Commissioner Charles Kalemba said that the boat had about 5 soldiers and one civilian. Other two soldiers and the civilian managed to run to safety, but the three others went missing.

Minister of local government Richard Chimwendo Banda said one of the three missing soldiers was spotted on a branch of tree.
