President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to visit people affected by tropical cyclone Freddy in Chilobwe and other areas of Blantyre this morning.

Secretary to President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Zamba, the president is expected to remain in the Southern region where he will be leading government activities in response to tropical cyclone Freddy.

The cyclone has claimed over 200 lives so far.

Former President Peter Mutharika is expected also to cheer flood victims this afternoon, according to a statement signed by DPP spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba.
