Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) has called for internet content monitoring as one way of protecting children from harmful internet exploitation.

This comes as MACRA is engaging different stakeholders in the country to outline and develop various strategies on addressing the issue of National Child Online Protection

In his remarks, Christopher Banda head of Computer Emergency Response team at MACRA outlined Misinformation, Cyberbullying, Fraud and Money laundering as some of the issues affecting children who are among the key users of internet.

Banda said that there is need of working together on ensuring and following up on safety of children and young adults on internet contents.

On her part MACRA board member Malla Kawale , has said that  the engagement between MACRA and other telecommunications organizations can help create a good internet environment by coming up with strategies and  solutions to address the issues affecting children on  internet use .
