The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have confirmed that floods have affected the official residence of former President Peter Mutharika in the eastern district of Mangochi.

On Tuesday evening the social media was awash with a video clip showing flooding water surrounding the PAGE house.

The reports went further by saying that the DPP leader had been evacuated to Blantyre following the water that threatened his private house.

Mutharika’s spokesperson Shadreck Namalomba confirmed of the flooding waters but said the former leader is safe.
“All is well..The water flowed from the lake to near the house but did not enter the house. Their excellencies are safe and well,” said Namalomba.

Meanwhile, Mutharika is this afternoon expected to cheer flood victims in Blantyre.
