President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is this morning visiting victims of Cyclone Freddy who are currently admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

President Chakwera is accompanied by Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda and other top government officials.

The visit comes barely a day after President Chakwera declared 14 days of mourning where the national flag will fry at half-mast for a period of 7 days following the death of 225 people in the Southern part of Malawi.

Chakwera has since started his hospital visit by touring the Children’s Accident and Emergency Ward where many minors that survived the deadly cyclone are admitted.

From QECH, Chakwera will proceed to Chiradzulu and Mulanje districts to inspect the gravity of the damage caused by the cyclone.
