National Oil Company of Malawi (Nocma) has assured Malawians not to panic in forthcoming fuel crisis in the country.
The sentiment has been made during the parliamentary committee meetting on Natural Resources and Agriculture together with ministry of energy officials.
Acting Chief Executive Officer for NOCMA Miklas Reuben has said that they while not disclose remaining petrol in stock as the country is only remaining with diesel enough for 14 days.
According to Reuben currently trucks are packing fuel from Tanzania hence people should not panic as they are getting fuel on open credit from suppliers.
NOCMA has also disclosed that despite inadequate availability of Forex, from now to Friday next week the country is expecting to receive 6 million litters of petrol.
Commenting on the matter, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Energy Alfonso Chikuni has said that government is working around the clock to overcome possible re-occurrence of dry fuel pumps.
