In a gruesome incident, a seven-year-old boy was found dead with his chest open and vital organs missing in Mungwi district.

The incident, suspected to be a case of ritual killing, has shocked the local community and left authorities scrambling to find the perpetrators.

Two individuals, aged 16 and 28, have been detained in connection with the killing. According to Northern Province commanding officer Gloria Mulele, the boy’s father, Emmanuel Bwalya, reported the murder to police on March 12, 2023, stating that his son, Progress Bwalya, was killed by unknown people.

Police believe the incident took place between March 11 and March 12 in Shikashimba village in Chief Makasa area in Mungwi. The boy’s body was found with an open chest, while his lungs, heart, and gullet were missing.

It is suspected that a sharp object was used to open his chest and remove the organs.
