President Lazarus Chakwera is expected to address Parliament on Wednesday this week on issues surrounding Tropical Cyclone Freddy which has so far claimed 447 lives and rendered over 362,000 homeless and destitute.

Leader of the House Richard Chimwendo Banda has confirmed the development to the press.

Chimwendo Banda however, could not say whether Chakwera will take questions from the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara, on Saturday issued a press release that Parliament will resume its plenary session for the Budget Meeting on the same Wednesday.

The resumption date was extended to enable MPs and others attend to critical humanitarian assistance in the affected areas.
