A nine-year-old boy has died after being hit by a motor vehicle in Mponela Dowa District.
Spokesperson for Mponela Police Macpatson Msadala has identified the deceased as Innocent Saukani.
The accident occurred along Mponela -Ntchisi road during afternoon hours of 20 March 2023.
Msadala said reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle registration number 3334 Toyata Hilux only identified as Mr Mwafulira aged 39 was coming from the direction of Ntchisi heading towards Mponela with one passenger on board.
Upon arrival at a place called Nthala Garage, the driver allegedly hit the boy, who was crossing the road from the right hand side.
However due to sustain severe head injuries the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mponela Rural Hospital.
