Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church has quashed concerns raised by some Malawians after he disbursed cash to cyclone freddy victims in Mulanje.

Bushiri has adopted 8 camps in Mulanje and on Monday this week he started airlifting food and other assorted items for the said victims.

As this is not enough, on Wednesday the man of God disbursed   cash ranging from K200,000 to K2million to about four camps.

The aim of the main is to help flood victims leave the camps and rebuild their homes.

The exercise attracted mixed reactions among Malawians with many claiming the exercise will expose the flood victims to ill-minded people.

But Bushiri through his spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo has quashed the claims, saying proper measures have been raid down to ensure that the victims are protected.

Here is what Bushiri spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo said:

There is a concern that, somehow, we may have, through the cash disbursements we have helped cylone victims today, made the beneficiaries insecure.

Thats a great point there.

However, we must underline that, even before we intervened, we had debated the best way to ensure that beneficiaries are not exposed to ill-minded spirits.

I am happy to inform you that we had already, through local functional structures, worked on standard and workable practices that we have strong faith it secures the beneficiaries.

For instance, we left most of the money in the hands of the local committees headed by the GVH and all relevant community security systems to manage the mass disbursements in a secured way.

Further, for those who received large sum of money, say K2 million, the funds were given in front of entire family members so that they all share the responsibility of ensuring that their relative is secured.

Not only that.

We are working with the Police in the area to jealously provide security to the beneficiaries in the camps so that everything is in order.

Also take note that our team is still around the area, yes in the villages, for the next three weeks, working with various relevant structures to ensure that the beneficiaries have available structures to quickly report to in case of a problem.

Lastly, we ask you, Malawians, to raise your voice against anyone plotting evil against people who have already suffered so much because of this cyclone.

Its not just about our intervention in Mulanje; its all about any place, the camps, where some want to destroy the goodwill that men and women, across the world, are doing to help our collegues in pain.
