Learners at Mbenjere Primary School in Machinga district spotted writing end of term two exams in a grass thatched classroom while raining.

On 11 March Government temporarily closed schools in the southern region districts as classrooms and toilet have been deemed unsafe as a result of heavy rains, floods and landslides following Cyclone Freddy which made landfall in Malawi.

However, Machinga district was spared in a list of 10 districts ordered to suspend schools that why school authorities are administering exams to its learners.

Meanwhile the district is also one of the districts in the country that have been heavily affected with the devastating Tropical Cyclone.
