In a show of solidarity and support, the Botswana government has delivered 15 tons of food and non-food items to Malawi to aid in the response to Cyclone Freddy. The aid was delivered through Chileka airport in Blantyre, with an additional six tons expected to arrive soon.

Speaking on behalf of the Botswana government, Dumezwewi Meshack Mthimkhulu, Assistant Minister for State, emphasized the importance of helping neighbors in times of need. “In Botswana, we believe that when the neighbor’s house is burning, it is your moral duty to help,” he said.

The Malawi government expressed gratitude for the assistance, with spokesperson Moses Kumkuyu calling Botswana a “true friend in need.”
