Information reaching this publication indicate government has appointed Dr. Godfrey Chapola as the new board chairperson for the Tobacco Commission (TC), effective immediately.

Comptroller of Statutory Corporations, Peter Simbani, confirmed the appointment, but did not provide specific reasons for the change.

Meanwhile, the outgoing TC board chairperson, Michael Nyirenda, has been moved to the Technical, Entrepreneurial, and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) board as a member.
