A small community in Manyinga District, North Western Province is in mourning following the tragic death of a 14-year-old school girl who was attacked by a crocodile while fetching water.
Yvonne Mutinta Nguvulu, a humble and well-liked student, lost her life in the incident which occurred yesterday along the Manyinga River.
According to eyewitnesses, Yvonne had gone to fetch water from the river, which is a common practice among many households in the area, when the crocodile attacked her.
Despite the efforts of locals to rescue her, the crocodile managed to drag her into the water and fatally injure her.
