A school pupil in the Eastern region of Zambia has been accused of snatching his teacher’s wife. Mekelani Banda, a grade 12 pupil, appeared in court and denied the accusations.

He claims that Mirriam was his girlfriend even before Mr. Chilufya, who is currently his teacher, was posted at his school in his village.

Mekelani explained to the court how much he suffered to pay for Mirriam’s school fees before she dropped out. He admitted that he was heartbroken when he learned that Mr.

Chilufya had married her. However, he decided to get his woman back when he learned that Mr. Chilufya was an irresponsible man who did not have time for his wife.

Mr. Chilufya told the court that Mekelani had been taking advantage of his wife whenever he was busy with school-related work.

The case has been adjourned and the two rivals are expected to appear before the magistrate court in the next hearing in April.
