Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmakers from the Northern Region have endorsed leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa ahead of the elective conference set for July this year.
The development comes barely a week after DPP north bloc led by the party’s Vice President Goodall Gondwe endorsed former President Peter Mutharika.
Speaking during a media briefing organised by DPP National Publicity Secretary Nicholas Dausi, Chitipa South Member of Parliament Werani Chilenga said the stand taken by Gondwe and some DPP officials from the north to endorse Mutharika does not represent the views of all DPP supporters from the north.
Chilenga then disclosed that all DPP MPs for the Northern Region have endorsed Kondwani Nankhumwa as a presidential candidate for DPP.
