Farmers in the country have been challenged to adopt Deep Bed Farming in an effort to alleviate hunger and poverty through sustainable farming.
In 2021 the Agriculture Technology Clearing Committee of the Malawi government approved Deep Bed Farming as one of the agriculture technologies that farmers can practice.
Speaking at a regional field day on Deep Bed Farming at Emsizini Extension Planning Area in Mzimba North, Tony Maulana, Senior Deputy Director of agriculture research services responsible for the north said the technology is known for its control for soil erosion, water harvesting as well as crop yields increase.
Maulana has encouraged farmers to adopt the technology which is also environmental friendly.
