Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance NCDA has pleaded with authorities on the need to have multi-sectoral approach and consider allocating more resources to assist the patients.

This comes as patients with Noncommunicable Diseases such as Diabetes, Asthma, kidney failure and Cardiac Arrest continue to struggle to easily access medical services in the country.

Chairperson for Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance Maud Mwakasungula who is also Executive Director for Women Coalition Against Cancer in Malawi (WOCACA) retaliated pleading with legislators to assist in allocating adequate resources to the health sector so that patients are able to access services.

Mwakasungula added by expressing upbeat that after lobbying the parliamentary committee on health and other members of parliament they will take a step in assisting the sector

Meanwhile Dr Mathews Ngwala Chairperson for Parliamentary Committee on Health promised to  take a role advocating for more resources so that patients with Noncommunicable Diseases are assisted without hitches.

Concurring with Ngwala is Hastings Chiumia Assistant Director Responsible for Noncommunicable Diseases in the Ministry of Health who added by indicating that government is doing all it can to assist the patients as witnessed by establishment of the Noncommunicable Diseases unit.

Chiumia further revealed that government is lobbying with partners to have the long awaited dialysis machine at Mzuzu Central Hospital.
