Supporters from the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led by former Minister of Agriculture Dr. George Chaponda have endorsed former President Peter Mutharika as the party’s torchbearer in the forthcoming 2025 Presidential polls.
The supporters made their stand during the unveiling ceremony of the newly appointed DPP regional governor for the south Thompson Kamangira.
DPP District Governor for Mulanje Limbuli Mr Gama said wether someone likes it or not Mutharika will represent the party in the forthcoming 2025 polls.
In his opening remarks, Honourable Chimwemwe Chipungu who is the DPP National Organising Secretary has congratulated newly appointed DPP Regional Governor for the South Honourable Thompson Kamangira and has also asked executive of the region, district and constituency governors to collaborate with Kamangira’s vision of taking the party forward in the region.
Chipungu continued to say that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a broader church and works on a going concern. It is therefore not surprising that time change leadership in regions and asked regional committee members not relent but work ahead for the 2025 comeback.
On his remarks, Kamangira hailed Mutharika for appointing him on the post of regional governor.
Kamangira has since promised to work around the clock in wooing the masses to support President Mutharika ahead of the 2025 polls.
