Four bodies have been retrieved from Lake Mweru, in Nchelenge, Luapula province after a boat carrying 32 people capsized.

This brings the number of people that have been confirmed dead to five, while nine people are still missing.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale has confirmed to ZNBC News that the marines managed to retrieve three bodies which include that of a child .

Mr Mwale says the search mission is still underway.

The accident happened yesterday, between 06 and 08 hours, as the boat was coming from Kilwa Island on the Zambian side, on its way to Kashobwe on the Democratic Republic of Congo -DRC- side.
