Death toll in the Tuesday road accident involving a truck and three other vehicles at Ntcheu Boma along the M1 road has risen to two.

The development follows the death of a patient who died while in transit to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) where he was referred for treatment.

Meanwhile, the other patient is currently at the ICU at KCH while 6 others are receiving treatment at Ntcheu District Hospital.

The accident involved a freight line track, registration number ZA 9983/BJ 2227, driven by Suzgo Sibande, was coming from the direction of Dedza, heading Balaka with one passenger on board.

“Upon arrival at Mphate trading Center, he was over taking another track, where he collided head on with an oncoming Toyota Hilux, double cabin, registration number 18 SC 43, and later on, it collided with another on coming Toyota Axio, registration number BU 6511, and another freight line track, registration number ALH 6829/AHL 9220, it proceeded further and hit a building and stopped there in,” Ntcheu PRO Rabecca Ndiwate said.
