Police in Thyolo are looking for a man suspecting him that he allegedly stabbing to death his 17-year-old step-son.

Public Relations Officer, Thyolo Police Station Sergeant Rabecca Kashoti, Deputy has identified the suspect as Osman Makwinja and the deceased as Evance Mpaso.

Kashot said that the suspect got married to the deceased’s mother a couple of years ago and found her with one child (the deceased).

Kashoti explained according to Police findings, the couple had been quarreling for a long time until on April 16, 2023 when Mpaso separated them during the morning fight.

This did not go down well with Makwinja and he produced a knife and stabbed Mpaso on the right chest leaving him with a deep stab wound.

The mother yelled for help and Mpaso was rushed to Chisoka Health centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival and post-mortem conducted revealed death was due to internal bleeding secondary to stab wound on the chest.

Makwinja has since fled from the village and a manhunt for him is currently underway.

Osman Makwinja and Evance Mpaso (deceased) hails from Sunganani Village, Traditional Authority Chimaliro Thyolo district.
