President Lazarus Chakwera is tomorrow expected to attend the 2023 Transform Africa Summit taking place in Zimbabwe.
Transform Africa Summit is Africa’s leading annual gathering that bring together African leaders and key players in the area of global digitalisation.
In an interview, Minister of Information, who is also the official government spokesperson, Moses Kunkuyu said Malawi the current administration has placed digitisation as one of the priority areas for economic transformation hence the need to attend the summit.
He said: “As a country we fully appreciate the pivotal role that digitalisation plays to transforming economies and we cannot afford to be left behind. We need to move together with all African countries in embracing this digital revolution and transform our economy and the lives of our people. The government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has placed digitalisation as one of his government’s top priorities and it is therefore critical that he interacts with fellow leaders and key players in the digital space so that Malawi is not left behind.”
According to Kunkuyu, the summit is a strong reminder to all African states that as a continent “we stand to effectively embark on meaningful digital revolution if we stand together”.
