Nsanje First Grade Magistrate’s Court has reserved its ruling in a case in which Carlos Zuze, 50, was being accused to have stolen or unlawfully obtained bags of fertiliser meant for the Affordable Inputs Program.

Police prosecutor Victor Nachuma told the court today that Zuze on April 26, 2023 was arrested at Lambwe Roadblock in the district, with 16 bags of fertiliser, which was being ferried to Blantyre through a vehicle registration number BS 8562.

Zuze pleaded guilty and told the court that he bought the fertiliser from registered beneficiaries of the inputs program and wanted to use it at his farm in Ntcheu.

First grade magistrate Watson Mankhanamba then convicted him on his own plea and has since reserved sentencing on the matter to Friday.
