Long fuel queues and dry petrol pumps have reappeared in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, causing inconvenience to motorists and motorcycle taxi operators.
The shortage of fuel has resulted in increased fares for motorcyclists. The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has attributed the problem to importation challenges at the ports of Dar es Salaam and Beira.
However, MERA has stated that the loading of fuel has resumed, and supply has been restored in some service stations.
The Authority anticipates that supply will be fully restored countrywide by the end of the week.
