Ichocho Power Security Company has pleaded for leniency at a disciplinary hearing summoned by the Ministry of Homeland Security over a leaked video clip.
Ichocho Power Security Chairperson George Kasakula has told reporters after the meeting that the company is sorry for the audio clip and that it will put in place measures to ensure that such a thing does not happen again.
In the said video clip, Ichocho Power Security Managing Director Yasin Ichocho Suwedi was captured claiming to have kidnapped lawyer Jai Banda’s son, Tonderai over his failure to represent the firm in an application where it wants to become a paramilitary wing.
Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Justice Minister Titus Mvalo, Malawi Police Service Inspector General Merlyn Yolamu and top officials from the Malawi Defence Force attended the disciplinary meeting.
According to Kasakula, the verdict of the disciplinary meeting is expected today.
Last week, Zikhale Ng’oma said authorities would revoke the operating licence of Ichocho Power Security following the video clip.
