The opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has condemned the conduct of its members who held a press briefing last weekend without the direction of the party’s president Peter Mutharika.

This comes as some DPP members led by Ken Msonda and Werani Chilenga held a press briefing in the northern region where they called for an elective conference.

The grouping also blasted the party’s tendency of firing people who are against the candidature of former President Peter Mutharika.

Speaking with the press Shadreck Namalomba Spokesperson for the DPP faulted the conduct of the members saying it is against the party’s constitution and a threat to unity among members of the DPP.

The party is currently embroiled in evident cracks ahead of its convention this year as some members have been making their own endorsements.
