President Hakainde Hichilema sent University of Zambia (UNZA) students into bursts of laughter when he said sugar daddies should stay away from female students popularly known as momas.
The Head State on yesterday addressed UNZA students at the graduation square where he touched on many important issues laced with occasional jokes.
“All those sugar daddies, we do not want them here. Sugar daddies are disturbing our moma’s. We want our moma’s to focus on education,” President Hichilema said.
He said his Government has put a high premium on education because it is the best investment and equalizer.
The President said the Government is focused on reviving UNZA’s lost glory through the reintroduction of meal allowances and rehabilitation of the dilapidated structures.
“For me coming here is home coming. A moma will always be a moma and a monk will always be a monk. We started planning the government even before coming into government and so we looked at many issues so even with meal allowances, we did our calculations ‘pa pa pa’,” he said amidst cheers from the students.
He said students deserve to be in a conducive learning environment thus issues like lack of accommodation, poor sanitation and other issues affecting the higher institutions will be addressed.
