Police in Mchinji have apprehended five former convicts who were suspected of causing trouble in the border district and Chipata, Zambia.

The arrests came after the ex-convicts, recently released from jail, broke into a shop located in the Robert 4 residential area.

They managed to steal various items valued at K180,000, which eventually led to their capture.

Limbani Mpinganjira, the spokesperson for the Mchinji police, reported that the law enforcement authorities were able to recover some of the stolen goods.

Among the items seized were a plasma screen and a computer’s Central Processing Unit (CPU), which were suspected to have been stolen in Chipata, Zambia.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Oscar Makawa (42 years old), Dyson Namaona (32 years old), Steven George (29 years old), Frank Kasenda (19 years old), and Selemani Mwase (24 years old).

They are expected to appear in court in the near future to face the charges brought against them.
