Canoe capsizes on Shire River, several people reportedly missing

Several people from Group Village Headman Mnembe under Traditional Authority Mbenje in Nsanje district are reportedly missing after a canoe they were traveling in on Shire river capsized after being hit by a hippo this morning.
Local leader claim, the canoe had carried over 30 people who were on their way to their crop fields in Mozambique.
An infant has reportedly died while eight people have survived the accident.
Nsanje police spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Agnes Zalakoma asked for more time.
