In a significant operation, the South East Region Police in Blantyre successfully apprehended 11 suspects at a graveyard in Bangwe, thwarting their plans to attack a businessman. The arrest was made possible through valuable intelligence gathered by the police.

According to Edward Kabango, the South East Region Public Relations Officer, it was discovered that a group of robbers had devised a scheme to target a business person in Bangwe before proceeding to Nsanje to rob another individual.

Acting swiftly, the police decided to conceal themselves at the agreed meeting point—the graveyard.

The first suspect to be apprehended was Steven Hopeson Galima, a 35-year-old resident of Mitengo Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mchiramwera in Thyolo.

With Galima in custody, the police set up an ambush for the remaining robbers.

During the operation, the police successfully seized various offensive weapons from the suspects, including axes, panga knives, crowbars, hammers, and screwdrivers.
