Football Fan Convicted for Assaulting Referee after Wanderers and Bangwe Super League Match

Anthony Matupa, a football fan, has been found guilty of assaulting referee Mayamiko Kanjere following a Super League match between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Bangwe All Stars last Saturday.
The game, held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, concluded with a 2-0 victory for Wanderers.
Matupa’s actions towards the referee were deemed unacceptable, leading to his conviction.
He has been remanded to Chichiri Prison until the sentencing, scheduled for June 5, 2023.
