The Malawi Orthopedic Association has called upon the government to implement more strict legislation aimed at reducing the frequency of roads accidents particularly those involving motorcycles.

The organization’s appeal has been made following alarming increase in number of accidents occurring on Malawi’s roads, primarily attributed to motorcycles.

Maureen Sabawo, president of the Association the trauma and orthopedic care service delivery in Malawi is overwhelmed with more cases of road accidents that are happening on the country.

Sabawo said it’s high time that government enforces the law on Kabanza operator as they contribute to a high number of severe injuries register in the hospitals.

Meanwhile Mathews Ngwale, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee has acknowledged the significant impact of the Malawi Orthopedic Association’s intervention and has committed to lobby for more budget support.
